This emblem was introduced during the course in Poole (England 1979) and coincided with the foundation of the IOGKF. Its purpose is to represent the organisation on a world scale.

The square symbol of the interior is the coat of arms of the Sensei Chojun Miyagi family, the founder of Goju-Ryu. This square (or hard shape) contrasts with the rounded edge (or flexible shape) to interpret the name of Goju-Ryu as a hard and flexible style. In oriental thought, the sky (Ken) is considered as empty and circular and the earth (Kon) is considered as hard and angular. Therefore, this emblem combines the circular and angular configurations, which personify the immensity of the universe, as well as the hardness of the Earth, describing the harmony of the hard and flexible aspects of the universe.
