Cuando me ha llegado la noticia de la entrega a Higaonna Sensei del “premio del patrimonio cultural inmaterial” por el gobierno de Okinawa la he recibido con honor y orgullo, pero no me ha sorprendido, ya que para los que tenemos el privilegio de conocerlo, convivir y aprender directamente de él, no nos queda la menor duda de que lo que se dice de él como karateka se queda pequeño para lo que se debería decir sobre sus cualidades humanas, creo que no hay palabras para describirlas.
Mi compromiso hacia Sensei es luchar y esforzarme por transmitir sus enseñanzas, tanto en lo técnico como en los valores humanos a las futuras generaciones, intentando que no se pierdan los tesoros tan magníficos que él me ha transmitido.
